Another option... if you're gonna be $30+ out of pocket renting used gauges... buy new, knocking off 20 bones and resell them through the classifieds when you're done.

You'll be "ahead" and they hold their value quite well.

That said, LGS's with smithing services and the size you need will generally run gauges for a pitance. A little legwork involved, though.

300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) Headspace Gauges

.300 Winchester, 7mm Remington Magnum etc will use the same headspace gauge as they headspace at the belt, not the shoulder. I own one, looks nothing like the actual cartridge.

True. 7mm is slightly different at the shoulder, but 270 WSM and 300 WSM gauges are interchangeable... if you can't lay hands on a .300.
