I agree with FireArm. Hurry up and buy one or two. A couple of days ago, the Oregon Senate passed a gun bill that will ban rapid-fire devices and impose other restrictions.

I have a couple from dnt. Just cam and lever. Waste too much ammo and don't need that in my life 60 f2f or 65 shipped

Not looking for legal advice that would hold up in a court, just trying to settle a debate with my wife.

So SB243 (I think was the one about rapid fire devices) just got passed and signed so in less than 80 days binary triggers, FRTs, cranks, etc. are illegal to own or purchase as I understand it. Feel free to clarify or out right correct me if I'm wrong.

If an Oregon resident bought something legal now and illegal in two months or whenever it takes effect...how would they know? Is it like the FRTs where ATF is going door to door asking shops for sales records or is it just if you're caught with one during a trip to the woods or a traffic stop or whatever? I said we should get a couple since we're told NOT to have them and she thinks if I order from somewhere it's going to flag to ATF and police to come arrest me which is obviously dramatic and insane.... right?

Normal businesses do not need to maintain business records of who they sell to. Think about your grocery store. It's FFLs that need to record transactions. Which buying triggers are not part of explicitly. Yes businesses can record their own transactions for their own records. But it's not a requirement.

@NinjaTard I would say though, there is not a grand fathering clause for SB243. Possession of one even purchased prior to the ban will be made illegal. Up until the ban is enacted it is perfectly legal to buy and own and posses one.

Didn't the ATF get sales records from shops that sold the FRT-15 a year or two back? This was how I used to think until then, if you're not doing paperwork it shouldn't be a record they can pull but somehow the ATF did.

Makes sense what you're saying though!

If businesses are doing online transactions that creates a paper trail no matter what. Because you're giving the person your name and address and card and an order invoice is created automatically due to modern online shopping software. But a in person transaction/ small business one is less likely. Also the ATF is a federal body. They really won't be investigating state level offenses as much as federal offenses. They can but it's a lot less likely.

I personally do not keep any records. I erase all shipping label logs that I print. I dont have anything firearm related in the cash apps unless a person that buys it states that. However people are smart. Even though law enforcement can dig deep. On the surface I have no sales regarding these saved and I do lots of none firearm transactions on my money apps. so it wouldn't be a quick investigation
