3 months out from a feisty election, ran into a fella cleaning house on 38 special today and had me thinking..

To those who don't reload, better stock up on the usuals and expect 25 to be slow for fulfillments. Happens every time.

To each their own I suppose, I like to clean house to, well 'house'! Or maybe tecno, and Scooter is always a good kick in the pants to get my second wind when it's time to do the windows.

Buy it cheep and stack it deep! Also good to have a friends group where you all know what the others are looking for so in case you run across something

For 25 years, I've bought double what I've shot. Wasn't always easy, but definitely worth it.
Ditto! Sadly so few will ever seem to learn. :(
Every panic we see a LOT of crying, then its all a conspiracy, the manufacturers are robbing us, blah, blah, blah. The panics roll around every so often and most promptly forget about it as soon as the shelves are full again. :s0092:

Would if I could but financially I'm strapped as is.

I have some stock but find I go shooting a lot less because I can't replace what I have for a reasonable cost.

I am in a consumer detox mode right now. High prices and low availability would be welcomed.

Heck, I have no idea how I am going to stuff this stuff in my safe space.

Twice I've been asked to sell, sold 25% of my stash for what I paid for all of it. Then rebought when it got sane again. Friends can have it for free, those that fail to plan get market rate.
I am a friend.

I am actually still enjoying the lower prices on things. I have a bit more stuff I want to get before the shenanigans with 114 start up again. I 100% agree that those that fail to plan will subsidize my future purchases after things calm down again. If things get crazy I expect I will be heavily utilizing the classifieds here to thin down my stocks. I am not even ashamed to say it, and if someone quotes this post in one of those listing trying to guilt trip me I'll just ask if they still want it now or if they are planning on seeing what happens later.

No buying, panicked or otherwise, for the foreseeable future. Bases are covered in that regard and shifting focus to other matters.

LOL, I have enough to last me until I die, but the notion that prices are lower makes me smile and shake my head. We are the frogs in the water....
All things are relative. Inflation is killing everyone, but comparatively speaking the ammo and gun market is depressed. Not massively so, but enough to notice if you are comparing them to benchmarks like food or precious metals (i.e. some kind of consistent "absolute value"). Yes, if we look at pure numerical raw dollar amount prices are massively up everywhere, not just with guns. If your income is not tied to market values (and is therefor not at least attempting to adjust for inflation) then you will absolutely not be able to participate in this hobby to the extent you could even a few years ago. All the baselines have been reset to significantly higher dollar values as the power of the dollar shrinks. It is a pretty disturbing trend, and one of the reasons I am not keeping much savings in dollars. Guns and other tools are less liquid than cash, but at least they actually retain value. If you are even slightly interested in guns as a store of value then now is not a terrible time to buy. That may not be true even a few weeks from now, depending on when/if the panic buying sets in.

The supply is larger than ever and people are getting tapped out. Where do we expect the panic buyers to come from and what do we think they will be buying?

Edit: Also we have the entire State of WA who will pretty much be left out of the panic buying since few companies will ship stuff to them.

I expect at least some of the newer/low info gun owners from recent years to buy "needed items" at almost any cost shortly before the election, especially if Harris continues to poll "well", but I do not know if there are enough of those kinds of buyers to drive up costs. Heavy inflation and the financial strain it causes will certainly be working to tamp down that market segment as much as possible though, so they may not overcome the existing supply. I am sure that inflation will keep mass stockpiling to a minimum, which might mean that the self fulfilling feedback loop of panic buying, reporting on panic buying and thus more panic buying may never kick off. "Dude, a bunch of people bought a gun or two each!" is a far less compelling headline than "This guy just bought two pallets of ammo and a case of guns!" Not having any panic buying in the news will certainly keep the phenomena to a minimum.

Again memories are always short. Anyone who has been shooting a while has lived through at least a couple if not more of these panic shortages. Some times some "event" will set one off. Other times just speculation. Since the net came along they are far worse and last far longer. All it takes is shelves to empty out and you will daily see a barrage of posts. Pics of the empty shelves at some store. This feeds on itself. Soon people are buying everything they can get their hands on. Just as with TP during the great hoax it does not take much to empty out the pipeline. Then the factory's are pumping the stuff out but daily someone will scream to all who will listen that the sky is falling. Each day more will go to a store, then online, find none and the panic is off and running again. :s0092:
