Looking through scope pile and found a Bausch & Lomb 6-24x40 scope. Was looking for something to throw on 10/22 with bull barrel. Is this overkill? Tacky? Or non-functional?

Been looking at spending 200+ on a decent scope and rings but wondered if this would work

Really needs to be a bipod rig to hold that scope steady enough to not wobble at 24x. I have a 36x on a benchrest 22lr, so no, not overkill as long as you aren't doing speedsteel off hand. For that you need a red dot or LPVO.

I've got a 8-40x50 on a rimfire. There is no such thing as overkill.

Got a Leupold 6.5-20 x 40 LR and getting ready to put something simular or a B&L 4200 6-24 on a 10-22 for sillywet. Never seen the Balvar but it looks the same as the 4200s which had great glass for the $$$. Worse case scenario is just turn it down and roll with it. If the glass was clear the the $ right, I'd grab it as a back up.
