First let me just say that I will not be posting any more details of this incident beyond what is in this post. The son of a good friend of of mine injured someone due to a ND off base, both he and the injured are in the military and it looks like both the military and the DA are going to prosecute him. Right now he's filled with a lot of guilt and shame and has resigned to accepting a public defender to defend him. If you have any knowledge of a good attorney to handle his case please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Did it occur here in WA? The reason I ask is the person will want a defense attorney familiar with firearm laws in the state in which the incident occurred.

The only firm I've dealt with up that way that are very knowledgeable about gun laws is the Northwest Gun Law Group. We've found their services solid, not perfect, but more than good enough. To @User 1234's good point, however, they may not be who your friend's son needs for this case. And, candidly, he likely shouldn't go with a public defender considering this may be seriously career / life changing. Good luck and best of wishes.

This, William Kirk ^^^ is where I would start.
Yes, his specialty is gun law, but Kirk may be able to recommend someone for this case.
The OP doesn't say, so we have to assume that the incident happened in WA sate.
For clarification, this did happen in WA State.

My condolences on the stress and pain this sounds like it is causing for someone you care about.

I truly hope that it results in a favorable outcome.

I looked at that web site, and it talks a lot about trusts and estate planning, etc, but I don't see anything about criminal or civil defense. What was the nature of your experience with them, in broad general terms ?

First of all, condolences to all the individuals involved, especially the injured gentleman. I hope it's not a life altering gsw. Secondly, the state of wa, or the da, will probably not go easily on a military member shooting someone off base. I don't know how the military will handle it, but we already know that the left considers soldiers owning firearms, not issued by the gubmint, as domestic terrorists in waiting.
Prayers for a positive outcome, all around!
