Any one here using one of these? A Gentleman at the range today had one of these and let me run my 9mm and some .357 Mag loads past it. Pretty freaking COOL. I never knew I was getting 1300 +fps out of my 9mm. It's tempting. Wifey has a buttload of Cabela's points so it would be free. With points left over for some nice slipper for her.

I don't have one, but have heard great things. Seems to be similar to a Garmin offering, using radar chronography. Other websites seems to have a high opinion of them, and I have enjoyed the Athlon Optics scopes I've used.

Hopefully others will have more to add!

I picked one up a little while back and have been loving it. Absolutely no comparison to my old style chronograph: small, light, convenient (x10), and reliable (never had it not detect a shot). Also, Bimart's website has the best price I've seen on them, so if you want to use those Cabela's points for something else, that's also an option.

The guy did say that this Athlon appeared to be the same as the Garmin. For a C-note less "Technology" I'll tell ya', pretty neat what they've
come up with this unit. Dinkin' around with the "Chrony" units seems like too much work. And hearing that they don't do so well in high daylight.

Good to hear that it's worked well for you. But darn you! For brining up Bimart! $50.00 savings! The thing is, Wifey's Cabela's points are free! Don't cost nuthin'. We very seldom use them and that's why she has so many! We're both to "Frugal"! And don't need anything. Especially "Toys" which is what I consider this. Something cool to play with.

Mine has been great so far, have had it at the range several times now. It's a purchase I do not regret at all.

They work great; pretty easy to setup and intuitive to use. Definitely worth the money (especially "free" money)!

For what it's worth—the gold standard of this type of chronograph (which it undoubtedly copies)—the Garmin Xero C1, is also an internal, non user-serviceable battery setup.

So I'd assume if the battery goes dead dead, you also just "throw it away" or send it in to be serviced. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it; unless you get a real lemon from a dubious manufacturer, it's not like rechargeable lithium ion battery packs just fail after a few uses.

Maybe,, but I tend to shy away from companies that have no/poor customer service. It would have been an easy task to answer a question from a potential customer.
Good for you! I know what I'll be doing when the battery eventually stops holding a charge years down the road and it'll cost just a few $$$

You mean you'll be using the battery back-up, if needed, as you suggested above?

I don't necessarily feel that the internal battery would go bad any time soon though. The Athlon warrantee looks to only cover it for one year.
