I have a few braced pistols and I love them! I messaged a few shops and the response I got was troubling to say the least! Apparently they don't sell them anymore because of the ATF. This is ridiculous! The only reason I have pistols like my CZ scorpion Evo3 S1 or my Draco Nak9 is because you can add a brace to them otherwise they are just glorified pistols that weigh to much! This President is the worst pushing his BS gun confiscation agenda even after seeing what is going on in Ukraine places like Washington state seem to under mind our second amendment rights it is sickening and frightening.

I can see FUTURE bans on sales/transfers. But with the millions of braces owned.. I just don't see a random reclassification magically making all currently owned and mounted braces illegal without some kind of grandfathering or some kind of deal worked out. Most owners arent going to strip $30-$200 products off their firearms and mount some $10-40 bare tube. I think by raw defiance this may not gain traction.
I bet there will also be a court case that stalls this new anti brace proposal from the ATF. I think this will more impact the future sales and manufacturing than anything.

I dont blame companies for purging product before they are the last one standing during musical chairs. The risk of tens of thousands of dollars isnt worth it.
But I do bet something is brewing.. something is headed our way.

I'm still going to buy a brace and enjoy it for as long as I can before the hammer comes down! Only a matter of time before Oregon see that 10 round magazine like Washington state specially with Kate brown still in charge. That's my thought as well it would be hard to enforce. Do they come serialized because if not good luck. Still off putting going to buy a pistol that you intend to brace and not be able to acquire the brace through a local gun shop! So if anybody has a SBa3 brace with the tube they wanna sell me shoot me a message I needs one before the price sky rockets due to unavailability

I remember last fall Midway was selling them at a slight discount with a no-return policy on them due to the ATF potentially meddling with them.

"Grandfathered" like the Bump Stocks?

Aloha, Mark

Besides one store ending sales, where exactly have they been banned?

Hey I know that guy in the OP!

The reality is that this has been going on for a long time now, IIRC the ATF released the worksheet to determine if a braced pistol was an SBR last summer, and frankly that's when a lot of distributors/manufacturers/dealers started to either reduce or offload inventory. Nearly 9 months later I don't think it's unreasonable that most places would have little to no inventory left, or have it on sale if they did.

You've hit the nail on the head! In an ideal world the ATF would cease to exist and our lives would be a lot easier, but in the meantime it comes down to risk - no one wants to be stuck with expensive product that will have little to no demand, or that won't even be legal to sell. Getting as far ahead of stuff like this as possible is not uncommon at all - although the bump stock ban didn't go into effect until Dec 2018 Slidefire closed their doors in ~ May of 2018.

This also rolls downhill, it's not just us - for example here's a screenshot of what RSR Group - one of the biggest firearms distributors in the country - shows on their SB tactical section:

So basically nothing. It's a similar situation on all of our other distributors, their brace sections either have items completely removed, or have little to nothing available.

These ATF shenanigans finally made me decide to stop putting it off and just Form 1 all my braced pistols.

Now instead of having unnecessarily gimped "pistols" I have unnecessarily gimped SBRs! (gimped since I can no longer take them across state lines without sending an application to Papa ATF first )

That BS is why I'm waiting on nfa items until I've moved out of state. No reason for unnecessary interaction with government entities.

From what I heard the court case ruled that it was unconstitutional or was overturned for some reason.
It shut the company down, but those that owned one could retain it unless they destroyed it when forced to. Its one of the things Trump had a hand in that I felt was unconscionable in how it was handled and it bankrupted a business.

With the pure amount of owned braces nation wide.. I just don't see it as having the same ability/impact on ownership so much as I do seeing it impacting distributors and manufacturers.

It is often stated and proven that registration leads to confiscation. We justifiably bristle and complain every time an unelected bureaucracy tries shady tactics to force registration.

Yet, anyone else notice the irony: That their intent is to register everything, but our response is to Form 1 (register) everything before they can...o_O

In other words, our plan to "stick it to the man" is to give them exactly what they want?

Form 1 SBR=200$ to be allowed to place an 8 ounce piece of sliding plastic to the end of your rightfully owned private property.

Form some reason, it seems so much more wrong than a Form 4 Supressor (even though they both are just as ridiculous). At least the suppressor is an actual, tangible item with significant benefits!
