AR-15 buttstock change

Hello there --

I own an M15A2 rifle made by Eagle Arms (Armalite) .. It came with original stock.

I recently purchased from cheaperthandirt.com a buttstock made by Command Arms. When I took off the older stock, I slid over the new stock but it doesn;t seem to be long enough or to "grip" on the tube that is inside the old stock.

Can somebody give me some pointers?

Did it have a fixed stock or a collapsable stock on there before?

Need to change the buffer tube to the type that allows for an adjustable stock.

It had a fixed stock.

It looks exactly like the one of the Armalite web-site (mine is an Eagle Arms by Armalite)
