For those who don't know, Ready or Not is a game where you play as a swat commander, focusing on clearing situations slowly and carefully, using realistic (-ish) police tactics and gear rather than run-and-gun like most shooter games. It was originally released on PC and recently released on Playstation and Xbox.

The game still has a few kinks to work out, but it is a lot of fun. I'm trying not to burn through the game too fast so I'm replaying missions often to try out different tactics and learn the ins and outs of the game better.

One thing I have started doing is what I'm calling the "Concealed Carry Challenge" by playing some of the smaller scale missions (gas station robbery and house clearing mainly) solo with no squad, no armor or gear at all, just one of the pistols I actually own and a realistic amount of ammo that I would actually carry. So far what this looks like is a Glock 19 or 1911 with two spare mags or a snubby with only one reload. To say this is challenging is an understatement!

Anyone else playing this game? Got any tips or fun ideas?

I think i remember seeing this in my Steam feed and watching the commercial for it because I have a long history of playing FPSs, namely PUBG which I'm currently taking a break from and playing Hunt Showdown.

I used to do something similar in PUBG where I would clear a building or area with a pistol and if I was lucky enough get a few kills I'd taunt, "John Wick up in here!" on voice chat. 😆

I'm waiting for "Bellum" to drop.

Life long gamer.

First FPS was Wolfenstine 3D (spelling?).

Got into VR sets a couple years ago.

Haven't touched my PC for gaming or consoles in about 21 months since I got my puppy - she's Velcro and demanding of my attention.

I love her dearly so I don't miss gaming but I miss gaming if that makes sense.

If I can play the bad guy, I'd be interested. Don't care to play the hero cop. Maybe I can be a corrupt cop.

No not me.
Not much a video game player...and definitely not into first person shooter games...
Too much of that when it was for real...at one time in my life.

That said...
I ain't against them either....at the end of the day...it's just a game...and many folks enjoy 'em...
And never harm anyone.

I do miss my Playstation...haven't found it since we moved a few years ago.
I really enjoyed playing Panzer General...and Allied General.
Everyone once and awhile I think about trying to find and buy a replacement for those.
But things like Books...Guns / gun stuff...Knives...Beer...all keep finding their way to the top of my must buy list.... :D

Same. My first FPS was Wolfenstein and then , like most, the natural progression of Doom, Doom 2, Quake, etc.

Kind of interesting, I played Rainbow 6 a million years ago on a PlayStation and it was kind of about moving the team carefully and deliberately, but that game was full of glitches. I really enjoy mech games with giant walking-robot-tanks shooting lasers and rockets at other mecha, and like the idea of setting up a cool simulator interface. But…they all become time sinks, and I need to keep up ammo production to feed the metal beasts.

I understand. I don't play video games regularly, I find a game I like, play the heck out of it for a while then go a long stretch without playing anything, until the next thing comes along.

That would be fun! You can't yet but I have heard rumors that PvP is coming in the future. I play Counter Strike here and there, Ready or Not reminds me of that, but much slower and with much more atmosphere.

Never got into computer gaming other than chess, cards and some other 'basics' occasionally however I when my daughter was young she wanted to play 'Myst' so we go that and played it together.

Obviously a very 'different' style of game and it took a lot of thinking. I believe we got through it in a couple weeks playing 'part time' on it.

I recently walked through "Alien Isolation" after my latest PC build with my youngest daughter where we took turns at the controls. For as old as the game is with all of the latest mods it looked really good. It was super fun with a whole lot of yelling at the jump scares.

Took a photo for posterity's sake.

A pretty hilarious Alien Isolation jump scare compilation:
