I have coming an older Bridgeport, CT 6-shot Charter Arms Undercover in .32 S&W Long. Guessing early 1970s. Got it cheap because nobody else was bidding. Plan is to test beside my S&W Model 30 with the Buffalo Bore wadcutter and my usual handloads.

I have lots of experience with the .32 S&W Long, and use it for the same purposes that "normal" people would carry a .22 for. NOT as a SD primary EDC, but as a light farm walking, woods loafing small game, trapline and varmint gun.

If anybody else wants to admit in public that they actually do carry a .32 snub sometimes I would like to compare notes. My usual reload is a 105-grain cast ogival flatnose with 2.5 grains of Bullseye, 800 fps in a 1-7/8" snub.

I have no experience with a .32 but my Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 special has been my carry gun for many, many years and is still going strong. I think I have had it for nearly 50 years. Doesn't get everyday use, but still.

A relatively newcomer to the line up is a Smith & Wesson 632 UC in .32 H&R Magnum. I do carry it when I should require an ultra light carry piece for brisk walks and hikes.

Concerning loads for social purposes, I've stuck with appropriate Magnum cartridges. For plinking, it is a mix of .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, and the aforementioned full length cartridges, though for practice I've shot mainly the Longs as I had ample supply and replacing wasn't difficult. I've tried a little .32 ACP, but about half the time they failed to fire.

Beyond that, I have been more than a bit tempted to add a Ruger in .327 Federal Magnum and/or a Webley or S&W 31 in .32 Long. With the last two, the British gun doesn't come up all that often at auction, while the latter does more so. I have my eyes on a deeply blued, excellent condition specimen of the diminutive Smith at the present.

But I've rambled enough. Cheers.

That's a sweet S&W! Best of all, it is a "no external lock" edition. (This makes it even better.) I have a 1991-92 Airweight in .32 H&R Magnum; I keep it in storage and use the Charter Arms "Undercoverette" instead.

What a great time to be alive and shooting!

My Mom carried a pre war S&W Lemon Squeezer in 32 long until she passed in 2020. It got her through several social scrapes. She did not miss much with it.
I have carried several guns in 32 acp. I know 32 gets a bad rap, but remember, 32 used to be the police caliber.
I have carried a 22lr and 32 long as a woods gun a lot. I would defend myself with either.
I now own 32 long, and 32 H&R Mag guns. If Ca would allow it I would carry them. DR
