Always remember. Repeat it as much as you can. I was the VICTIM, that person attempted to take my life.

Other than that. The only thing I would say outside of a lawyers presence is to assist in the direction of shell casings or other evidence like the other persons weapons if any and my personal information.

Don't say you shot someone, state that there is someone dead on the 911 call and to send an ambulance.

Asked to be checked out by the ambulance when they arrive. When you are checked out, do not mention anything about your state of mind, just make sure you are not physically messed up. In other words don't say you might be in shock, but at least get medical attention if your feeling it.

AFTERMATH.jpg

After three hours on the witness stand yesterday, with the defense attorney's tactics fresh in my PTSD-ized memory, respectfully I will suggest you don't participate in any assistance whatsoever of the police investigative process.

"the defendant/investigator/perpetrator tried to interfere and mislead the police by misdirecting their efforts..."

Not only is everything you say subject to being portrayed in the most negative possible way, everything you DO is going to be similarly up to "interpretation".

Be respectfully quiet and stay the heck out of the way. FWIW.

Ok ONE MORE TIME. NEVER talk to police, assist police, if you see flashing lights from police go the other way AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. They are not here to help you, they are here to collect revenue from you. They get promoted with bigger pay fatter pension from money collected from arresting we the people. They will confiscate your cash and make you fight in court to get it back without charges, they will lie on the stand to win the case and have an arrest on their file for further promotion. They will do whatever it takes to put as many people in jail as they possibly can b/c that is the way THEY get paid.. NOW,, any questions?

Multi state chase does not end well for this guy.

Y'know, good.

Anybody stupid and careless enough, with so much disregard for other motorists to run from the police over several states, should get the choice of facing the courts or to spend five private minutes with the pursuing officers.

If I had my way, the police could employ some Bell UH-1 helicopters with M-134 guns which would escort the idiots off the road to the tune of 5000 RPM. I am, frankly, sick of stupid, narcissistic criminals who believe they can get away with everything. I had to deal with a jerk like this just today and had to leave him in a parking lot, because something more important was happening.

I'm extremely sorry I could not have let him ride the M-26 Taser for a half a minute. Maybe I'll see him again.

Go in peace.

Don't talk to the police even if it just a traffic stop.

What is the second thing they ask you after asking for you license and registration?

"Do you know why I stopped you?"

They are trying to get you to admit to a crime, possibly one they don't know you committed.

Answer "no" - it is the truth; you are not a mind reader - you don't know their motivation - how could you possibly know what they are thinking?

They may have stopped you because you have a tail-light out and then you go admitting to doing 100 mph in a school zone, or to having a body in the trunk.

There was a lawyer recently arrested for obstruction of justice when she said nothing after the officer asked her "Do you know why I stopped you?". She didn't answer. She said nothing. He then arrested her and informed her of her rights; "you have the right to remain silent". Very ironic. The charges were eventually dropped.

They may arrest you, threaten you, etc. - but keep your mouth shut until you talk to a lawyer, preferably a good lawyer. You may not be able to afford a good lawyer, but can you afford a court trial and incarceration?

Remember.. We are all Negros now:

For the humor that is pretty funny. But I have lost ALL respect for Chris Rock after he made a stupid statement at a press release after the Sandy Hook deal. He does not even know how this country is run. He was grand standing for some publicity. Two things were wrong with his statement. #1, The president IS NOT the boss. He does not run this country by himself. #2, Obama is not my efin daddy! So he can take his spineless bag of crap back to Hollywood where everything is a fantasy.

Ditto!

He used to be one of my favorite comedians (and even comedy actors), but like almost all celebrities they start buying into their own hype and go off reservation... I won't spend 10 seconds (or cents) on him after that stunt in the video you posted.

According to Salinas vs, TX you must invoke right to silence. If you merely remain silent what you don't say can be used against you.
good to know

In that particular case he had started to talk to them and then fell silent when they asked a question he didn't want to answer.

Like many criminals, they think they can talk their way out of being arrested or being under suspicion. Like many criminals, that was a stupid strategy. Generally LEOs are not stupid and many have a lot of experience in getting criminals to incriminate themselves during an interrogation.

Facts :
Police are not lawyers, and wont protect your rights.

Upon investigation post incident police are not there to help you or keep you safe that time passed before they got there. They are now in law " enforcement " mode and are there to see if a crime was committed by anyone including you. Its not mean, or hateful its what they do.

As Revjen45 said, invoke your right to remain silent action and word the minute the officer steps out of the car to speak with you are now evidence.

The more you say, the more the prosecutor or defense can use its like teaching classroom full of kids, you just keep talking and you give them all the teaching tools they need to show a Jury or judge you be and ignant stupid fool and not to trust you.

No one from event to judicial system is there to help you except your lawyer. So if you need help don't ask the police, the D.A. a clerk, anyone. Just your lawyer.

Oh and don't post anything on social media, like here is me at the police station selfie, you laugh but that too can be seen as how serious you are not taking things. Everything and everything will be used against you, because it has to be that way.

Only you can prevent sharing a cell with bubba. Don't be a bubba cell mate
