I notice that none of the "usual suspects" are chiming in 😀
I'm here!

God's truth, Legal (law) truth, or My truth?
Because I guarantee you, they are all different.
To clarify I was referring to being right or wrong per the subject, not anything spiritual or religious. Was just trying to be thought provoking, I think most people will admit when they are wrong.

Until an individual lies to themselves to the point they truly believe their own lie.

how did I know this was gona turn into a "muh wife" thread.

Not being able to admit you're wrong is for psycho/sociopaths and narcissists, all of which I wouldn't mind them all rounded up and condemning to maoist style struggle sessions.

Most here agree that apologies seem to be associated (maybe essential) with admitting one is wrong. I'd say essential if the dispute had become an argument.

...and apologies seem to be a lost art right along with the admission of wrong. "I'm Sorry" is the easy part. Rolls right off the tongue. Add a bit of voice inflection for the appearance of sincerity.

The hard parts are making it clear to the person wronged that you can envision how they felt: Put yourself in their shoes and tell 'em about it.

The other hard part is describing the action you will take against it ever happening again.

"I'm Sorry" NEVER cuts it.

I work in a field where it is kinda experimental with a lot of 'competing hypotheses,' so being wrong, often, is part of it.

My employees occasionally mention that I undermine my 'leadership' (puke) sometimes by not expressing absolute confidence about my ideas. Most of them lack a good sense of epistemological doubt, but they were not trained in that crap like I was.

Now it is a different story if I am faced with malcontents parroting their stories of imaginary oppression, when in fact they just need to quit blaming their problems on some version of 'the man.' Then there is no right or wrong. Just parody.
