Add Tactical Sling to O/U?

Wondering if anyone has modified an O/U shotgun to add a tactical sling like simple point sling in this pic? How did you modify to add a connection point?

My Citori Composite weighs close to 8 pounds loaded and really gets heavy after tromping 4 miles through the field chasing upland birds. Thought adding a sling this would help relieve some carry weight while still making it quick to shoulder.

I don't see where adding a sling will help any, it's the same weight and the same distance. Maybe some cardio will help.

So you're gonna be "that guy"… When you're pushing 70, had 4 knee surgeries (replacement 9 months before), 3 shoulder surgeries and needing another, numerous back procedures…then tell me how much cardio you're up for.

Thanks but those interfere with sight picture. I tried a no swivel type already. Fine for carry but not practical walking with gun at waist high "ready position"

Sorry wasn't trying to be "that guy" Just saying weight is weight and miles are miles. No sling is going to change that. And for the record I'm a broken down old man as well just trying to the best best I can with the time I have left.

Gotcha. Gettin old sucks. I just feel carrying a portion of the weight via my shoulder and back would let me carry at ready position longer. You know Murphy, that one bird surprises you when you have the gun cradled or over you shoulder, never when you are ready.

Thread the loop between barrels? Like I said not pretty, and no, I wouldn't try it myself.
The cable is plastic clad , but I would imagine the finish would suffer quickly

I'd use para cord and do some experimenting with different locations etc to see if and where you would like one. Might use some fabric that is non abrasive under the cord if it is over blueing just to be safe.

You may find there isn't a viable place to put one.

I wouldn't put a permanent sling point on a O/U at all.


Probably the best case would be one of the Elberstock (spelling?) hunting packs with the rifle pouch (I think it is the gun slinger pack) which will help distribute the weight pretty well as long as you don't fill the pack but it would be a nice all in one if you can afford it - they aren't real cheap.

Every break barrel shotgun I've bought had sling swivels. But I only buy quality European guns for ridiculously cheap and seems like they all have those.

I use that for my rifle big game pack. Works great for hiking in and out, but it's not really an upland shotgun carrier unless you happen to be wearing a pack with a molle belt.

Good idea to do a test with para cord. I'll try that for solution I think I plan to try.

I think I found a solution if I can find a willing gunsmith. That is to add a single swivel stud in the side of the fore grip near center of balance. My Tac Sling has a claw spring clip to quickly attach. I'll test with para cord first as other poster suggested.
