9mm on pitbull attacks

Since 22cal is I believe the official caliber in Oregon for coyotes, I would use a 22lr, like my Mark 4 loaded with my favorite hot 22lr ammo being Aguila Interceptors 40gr round nose...

Unlike stingers and stangers that lessen the bullet weight for velocity, the Interceptors keep a full 40gr and are rated just shy of 1500fps... Out of my Mark 4, they still go supersonic and have some recoil compared to normal 22lr. They have spice....

A cattle prod to get the pit to release and move away for a cleaner shot if possible and mag dump into the body till the threat is stopped.

Ours woke me up at 0100 barking at the wind.

Used to have a corgi-terrier mix (I think) who one day started barking in the kitchen a little after we came home from the grocery store. Turned out she was barking at a bag of potatoes we just bought and put on the kitchen floor.

One time we took her to a park so she could stretch her little corgi legs. Another dog, an older terrier, was there and started chasing her. They were running around in 25 yard diameter circles. I started to worry about our dog, wondering if she was being bullied. Then the other dog stopped to catch his breath. Our dog continued the circle she was running in and did a fly-by right in front of his face to get the game going again.

That dog was instant death to any nearby rats, squirrels, or chipmunks.

2nd time had to pull firearm to protect family livestock/ pets tonight. Sort of. Could not make a safe shot on the pitbull as I was afraid my 147 grain 9mm hp would go through attacking pitbull skull and kill my beloved livestock/ pet. Both were pinned down by the throat. First on my cat, then three years later my little dog. Both were attacking pitbulls. Tonight the pitbulls owner came out and wrangled his dog off of mine. Any one have first hand experiance with over penetration on pitbull skull into beloved pet? Am I safe to dispatch an animal with that firearm and round safely without penetration into my pucho, point blank on the pitbulls head? Fortunately, tonights attack on my dog ended better, but the first one ended with a dead cat. For anyone who cares, you can kick and stomp a pitbulls head untill your legs are dead, but they will not let go….
Called the Sherif, and they said I have the right to protect my livestock (pets) from threats, including discharging a firearm in a safe dirrection in the urban growth boundaries… in Oregon.
Any real life experience would be great! Thank you!

A friend of mine is a cop and shot an attacking pitbull with his G17. He shot it mid-air just a couple feet from him. The dog immediately stopped and took off yelping. I was watching an episode of Cops where a citizen shot a pitbull that was being aggressive towards his daughter. The round ricocheted off the head, and they actually found the bullet about 15' from where he shot the dog. The dog stopped being aggressive immediately and took off.

When I was young my mother made me carry "rainbow k-9 stopper" with me when I went out for walks, I ended up having to use it against some pit bull hybrid mix who got loose! As soon as a drop grazed his face he turned tail and ran off.

So I would say pepper spray is more than adequate for dogs, I carry sabre red now on my keychain.

Was issued an ultrasonic device at work, can be found on Amazon for about $15, seems to do a good job of discouraging dogs from being aggressive and they don't like to hang around...
