Haven't tried the 147 grain yet but the 124 grain shoot pretty good. Do the same for the rifle as I do a pistol. Funny thing is the 9mm AR recoils harder than the 5.56 or 300 blk. That big bolt movement is deceiving.

I put together several 9mm ar's and was able to get them running reliably but couldn't get over the recoil impulse with that reciprocating mass. For the recoil, I decided a rifle caliber was a better choice for me and I invested in 7.62x39 instead. Well now cheap Russian steel cased ammo is a thing of the past I kind of regret selling off all the 9mm stuff.

I'm getting ready to load a bunch of subs for the 9mm AR's we have. I was eying the 165gr plated from Xtreme Bullets but sounds like 147's is all I'd need.

I've thought about setting up an AR with modified Exo mags or with modified 10mm mags and loading those long to get a little closer to the 1000fps mark but haven't had the time or money to jump into that can of worms yet.

It's a rabbit hole for sure. I just got my first hybrid can so I've been eying the few AR's in 9mm thinking they may get more use now.

My whole reason for running a PC carbine is it can share any of my pistol ammo. I would spend my time working on my carbines timing so that it functions with my pistol's ammo. DR

Trying not to get off topic, but what about AR 45ACP carbines?
I'd imagine Blowback 9's general principles apply to most blowback PCC's as to taming recoil and improving reliability, though the weight spring combo he recommends for 9mm may not be exactly the same.

BB9 has some info on those as well. The gist is basically get the heaviest combination of buffer, bolt, and weights you can and ideally you get just past the bolt hold open without hitting the end of travel.

The loads and setups on AR9s has been discussed at length on most of the large competition forums. I personally do use Titegroup with Xtreme 124s (also 115s) in both our AR9s, both MPXs, both MP5s and most of our 9mm competition pistols. Really depends how you setup your guns, AR9s especially. I don't run a weight in my bolt and have a purpose built buffer system in my carbine, it does intentionally short stroke and wont lock on an empty mag. I can manually lock it.
