don't limit yourself to one caliber, there are a lot more options for elk if you don't have to have a 7mm. good luck on both hunts>

I hear you. I like the ballistics of the 7mm - seems like a good route to go for all around hunting caliber.

I'd look at 270 and 300 win mag as well.. 7mm-08...

newest rifle in my stable is a remmy 700 sps stainless, boyds laminated stock, leupold 3x9x40 vxII in .270 wsm. harvested its first elk last fall. no complaints so far. about $1100 total.

Sorry coyote my bad! I was talking to another Browning seller that had me on the hook for an a bolt and backed out before I could get down to Vancouver...

I'd really like a bolt gun.

Sheepdip I've been looking at a Rem 700 XCR II in 7mm or a Savage 116 if I have to buy a new one. I also like the Leupold VX3 3.5-10x40 on top...

I know there's one out there not being used but I don't want to wait too long.. If like to shoot it a bunch before November and dial in what ammo I want to use.
