Rifles can be shipped (wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a box) via UPS or FedEx (not USPS) interstate to a local FFL on the other end who does the transfer. The shipper will ask what the box contains. I have it labeled as "steel tubes".

I bought some U-Haul boxes, cut them down, and built them into long rectangular shapes that fit the dimensions of the rifle. I've done this about a dozen times.

Pistols have to be shipped FFL to FFL.
