bought my Glock G22 back in 2017
I just dislike the 40 S&W, so i retired the pistol to the gun safe
sometime in 2010, I read one could just drop a 357 Sig barrel into the G22
but found it kicked like a mule - back into the gun safe

come forward to last month, I acquired a complete Gen 4 G17C for my G22 lower
put a Gen 4 G17 ejector in the lower for reliable ejection
so, today, I mounted the complete G22 slide back on, with the 357 Sig barrel, OEM compound 17# G22 recoil spring still in it
but kept the G17 ejector in the lower

shot PPU 125 gn 357 Sig ammo - cycled just fine
no FTF, FTE or brass to face
actually the brass was thrown to 5 O'clock, about 3' away, even with the G17 ejector
so, move up to Federal 357 Sig HST
now it kicks like my old Ruger Service Six with 125 gn Magnum loads, but no failures
shot a little high with the G22 sights, but nothing one could not comp for

Life is good

Having recently acquired a G22, specifically for the ability to shoot multiple chamberings, this post is of interest to me. I'm wondering though, what has your workout regimen been for the last 15 years that now the .357 sig recoil is more manageable? Enjoyable even?

lolll
put on 30 lbs
I worked in electronics, the heaviest thing I lifted on a daily bases was a cup of coffee
been retired for 5 years now on 5 acres of land, lots of work with chainsaws, ax and such

by the way, I tried to get a 9mm conversion to work in the G22 slide
it would shoot, but ejection was erratic and often brass to face, sometime the last round was FTE
also sensitive to ammo, the G22 17# recoil spring was too strong for 115 gn mmo
once you think about it, the G22 slide cut for the 40 cal is wider than the 9mm
the extractor just can't get a hold of the 9mm case, even with a 9mm extractor
I found a complete G17 upper was the only solution that was reliable

I was looking for a G-22 just to convert to .357 sig, ended up finding G-31 police turn in gun and then picked up a 40 s&w barrel for it just to burn up ammo, really like the .357 sig round it's kind of a pain to reload for but I think it's a great SD round.

what Gen is your G22? I've got many 9mm conversion parts for a Gen 4

I like the Glock in .357 Sig for woodland carry
Hornady makes a 147 gn XTP in .357 Sig I like
I have 4 full sized .357 Mag, but those weigh almost 5 lbs each
one can carry a Glock all day long and not note it's there

Sorry for the delayed response to your question. Work got in the way. Mine is a gen 3 leo trade in. I've got the 9mm conversion barrel, but haven't put any rounds through it yet.

I've hear many of the Gen 3 conversions did work
let me know which ejector and extractor you use and which recoil spring
the Gen 3 spring was completely different

I've never done 9mm conversion, but fwiw when I studied it for gen 3 everyone and their brother said all you need is the conversion barrel. Unlike .40 and .357 sig which use standard glock barrels you have to have the special "conversion barrel". That's all I know about the subject.

It's really interesting though that you can have a single gun (G22) with so many different power levels (and bullet diameter), 9mm, .40,.357 sig. For me it's only .40 and .357 for my g22 just cuz I have a g34 for 9mm. G34 is sbr'd due to the use with stock. With the free sbr this could be done after Jan. 1 for $200 less which is very cool. A Glock 17l with USW such as @Gbirk has to me is ideal. But you could do similar with .40 or .357 sig. here's the g34 9mm. Love that 9mm and .347 sig can use the same suppressor.
G34 in USW (shoulder stabilized, non moving red dot) with binary trigger I was messing around with just for fun. Woudl be cool to try with an frt trigger.

I noted on the Lone Wolf site, they now warn you their conversion barrel MAY not work with the Gen 4 spring, they recommend putting in a Gen 3 adapter
I found a 15# Gen 3 spring worked best in my G22, but still had the ejection issue and hot Brass to Face
I'd be interested in the experience of anyone out there that did put a 9mm adapter in a Gen 3

I don't notice more recoil from .357 sig than 40 S&W. Just more muzzle blast.

NOISY!!!
Good point. I'm not sure if it's more recoil but it has a different feel to me. .40 is more of a push and .357 sig is more sharp. That's how I remember it anyway. Shooting side by side is the best way to tell differences between 2 guns and I haven't done that so I may be misremembering it.

I found the .40 to twist and recoil, twisting to the right
the Sig just recoils - and it does have a sharper bark - but then so does the 357 magnum

I bought an aftermarket .40 cal barrel with left hand twist - haven't tried it yet

I agree with ilikegunspdx that the G22 is a unique platform you can customize for multiple power loads and calipers
for my G17C upper, I have both a ported and non-ported barrel, can change out barrels and springs in less than 15 sec

one difference is the at Glock 22 in .40 S&W has a 1:16 twist
the Glock .357 Sig barrel has a 1:10 twist
