I would not count out the older 700's. While I am not getting rid of mine, I have a SS 700BDL I bought in the 90's. I will put it up against ANY rifle. ( yes any rifle) Its 100% factory, shoots 3/4 MOA, killed over a dozen elk and deer. Its the first big caliber rifle I ever bought and the last one I will ever get rid of.

I have no argument with your though on new Remingtons.
