I kinda got sold on a Nikon prostaff rim fire scope yesterday when I got my new Marlin xt22. But I already have a simmons 3-9. I was thinking about just returning the Nikon.Or is it that much better of a scope? main plan for the 22 is small game killing i mean control
I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x rimfire scope on my M&P 15-22. I gave away my Simmons 3-9x a/o scope. I only wish I would have waited until Nikon came out with their adjustable objective version, but the one I have is bright and clear and has taken a few ground squirrels. Now, I mostly use a Savage .17HMR. It is a little overscoped, with an Intensity 6.5-20x AO scope on it. I use it mostly at 6.5x.
Is the Simmons a .22lr scope ? Like the .22 mag ? The Nikon should be a better scope, but it wouldn't hurt to look through them side by side. The Nikon has a 50 yard parallax setting that good for a fixed setting. I like the Leupold Freedom 2-7 myself. American made for $180 with nice clear vx2 glass. From what I've read on the reviews anyways , it's on my short list.
I got a Hawke scope on my hunting .22lr it's calibrated out to 200 yards with subsonic ammo, shooting a ruger American rimfire with WW subsonic Power points witting eggs at 150 yards is no problem.
