I've been in the same dilemma, except I bought a new in box Colt Combat Government 70 series complete slide from a member here and then went looking for a period correct frame. No such luck, as they made very few of those.
I evidentially found a brand new Dan Wesson made overstock stripped frame down in Texas that was period correct.
The late gunsmith Tim Copeland built it for me and he did a beautiful job mating it to the Colt slide.
So what's your story on your orphaned Colt frame?
