1983 Ruger Security Six (unfired) I believe

I received in trade a perfect condition Ruger Security Six 6inch Blue,I was told that it was a dress weapon that had never been fired I know it is a 1983 I looked it up on the Ruger site it does have a box although not the original (I think)
and no paperwork but a beautiful piece and just not sure if I want to be the one to fire a 30 year old firearm. I am looking for a glock in .45 or maybe 9mm
