1959 Chevrolet 36 Apache bearing serial 3E59F119125, Morysville service body with the scarce NAPCO PowerPak installed at the factory (riveted). The front axle housing has NAPCO 31 - 18 8 cast on the left side. The shocks have been replaced, along with a new Edelbrock carb, new manifold back exhaust, HEI distributor, coil, plug wires, aluminum radiator, hoses, master cylinder, hood hinges, side mirror glass, accelerator pedal, brake and clutch pedal pads, new fuel tank and arm rests. There has been a re-paint sometime in the past.

Vin Decode indicates a ¾ ton (3E) factory installed Taskmaster 283ci V-8 (F) built in Flint Michigan and a cab and chassis 4x4 model number of 3653. Muncie SM420 transmission, Spicer 23 divorced transfer case The exterior color code is 707A – Brigade Blue, interior color code is 712 Frontier Beige. Body, cab, fenders floors and service body are in good condition. Front emblem and both side emblems along with the NAPCO badges are present. Odometer was stated to have had 36,000 original miles but there is no way of knowing the actual mileage. Wheels and tires are virtually new with less than 100 miles on them, sticker remnants and adhesive are still visible. Nexen Roadian MTX 33X12.5/50R17 on 8-hole alloy weld style wheels fit the fender openings well. Glass seems to be original. Seat upholstery is in fine condition.

General Motors did not offer a factory-built four-wheel-drive pickup truck until 1960, so a small vendor called NAPCO, or Northwestern Auto Parts Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota, stepped up to meet the demand. Overall production of PowerPak units from 1947 through 1959 was a mere 2000 units for all manufacturers' applications. 1959 had less than 200 units installed on Chevrolet trucks and very few on the 3/4 ton models. NAPCO is now DANA Corporation which was started by Clarence Spicer in 1904. Presumably the NAPCO Power Pak was factory installed, it was not uncommon for the work bodies to be installed at the dealership or by the end user. These were bolted on versus riveted.

This truck seems to have had a very easy life. Title and registration, until 2022 ,was a Redondo Beach California address and we were told that it sold at a California estate auction in 2022. The previous cancelled title will be included in the sale.
