FYI, that rife is going to be a 1955 production or newer IF it's in .243 Winchester!

Are you sure this is a 1939 model? 308 Winchester which the 243 is based off, did not come out until the early 50's I think and the 243 3 or 4 years later.

I have a 1961 Win model 70 in .243 with the stainless bull barrel and vintage scope. Really a sweet rifle. He may have just gotten the date wrong.
That being said...
