Best place for gun transfers in the PNW! Friendly and knowledgeable staff. They buy and sell used guns for very fair prices.
I do all of my transfers at ACAP. This is the best place to do gun transfers FTF. They are extremely helpful and get transfers going fast and charge a very reasonable amount of money for transfers.
They also purchase your used guns for a fair price so this is the best shop to look for milsurp and other used firearms.
I love coming to Pantel for any of my firearm needs. They are easy to work with. When I came there for my first firearm purchase, they guided me through the process without any headaches.
The staff is also very friendly. They aren't afraid to spark up a friendly conversation. While I was waiting for paper work to be processed, one of the staff members let me inspect his lever-action rifle build. It inspired me to build my own lever rifle a few months later.
I've got Warne rings and bases/rails on all my rifles, super solid and reasonably priced for something I never have to worry about. Really impressed with their shipping times every time I order something from them, it's usually out the door the business day after I place an order.
Really nice shop with friendly people. I've purchased 10+ guns here and had good service. Depending on when you go, the store can be busy!
Nice selection, easy consignments, and website orders show up fast!
Free and easy programs to fulfill training requirements
Cons
Somewhat expensive
Sporting Systems was very responsive and helpful when looking for a new gun. When undecided, they provided a list of recommendations to look into. They also have free, easy, and quick web-based training to fulfill legal requirements to purchase firearms.
The only downside was their prices. Though maybe fair for a single shop, they were somewhat high in general. Transfers now appear to be $50.
Great place to browse and get hands on knowledge on firearms, especially for folks new to firearms, as the staff is quite friendly, respectful, patient and knowledgeable.
The shop is well-lit and organized, uncluttered.
so this is the 2nd new place i visited from the forum
just down the road from wolf creek, 40 min out of town either way (seaside, hillsboro/beaverton) @ milepost 32 on sunset highway. the market 10 miles east sells ammo so you can restock if needed.
coordinates lead to a place deeper in the forest but it was snowed out so i didnt go. salmonberry road itself is a dirt road but its in good shape with a couple pot holes here and there. ended up on a shorter lane right at the beginning of salmonberry after driving 10 min to avoid snow and turning around. its the first lane with a little pond on salmonberry.
you COULD get long range going if you wanted to but its MAYBE too small for that. for me (pistols) it was plenty of space. got there early but there was already a group of people-- we shared room for a little bit before i carried on my way.
really only downside is not having cell service. but you just drive back 15 miles and it picks back up. typical and is to be expected so it doesnt take any stars away, just something to be aware of.
searched forum for spots in washington and this area was on my list of places to check out. got the opportunity this weekend to check out 2 spots that were new to me
if anything, its as good if not better than most other public spots. its a little messy but its what you would expect: some ammo boxes, shells, food debris. there are signs posted for "shooting rules" so im guessing its popular with the locals (there is a LGS around the corner). good for close and long range
expect a little hike (half mile?). bring good shoes. there are markets out before the forest so stock up on snacks and water whatever before going. GPS is accurate but its the first left on elfendehl pass coming from belfair. road closed but there is parking across the street
5 star place but i prefer to pull up and park and not leave my vehicle unattended. thats just me tho... recommend
This firm was recommended for threading of barrels, of which, historically, I have had a decent number done. Responses were either very slow or nonexistent. Examples:
Messaged 2/20/2014: No response.
Messaged 6/23/2014: No response.
Messaged 2/14/2015: Got a response 5/26/2017. That is not a typo; over two years later, by which time I had that project done.
Messaged 12/20/2018: No response.
More recently they listed some fully transferable machine-guns on Gunbroker and I corresponded, briefly, with them here concerning said. In light of the poor communication, I opted to go with other vendors for happy-switch equipped firearms.
