Pros
  • Decent area for close range shooting
  • Close to parking
Went here this morning. This was my first time shooting on public land in Oregon. The guys from Trash No Land were there as well as other Northwest Firearms members. It was very empty to my surprise(maybe due to rising ammo prices) and had no problem setting up a safe place to shoot. Overall this is a great short range place to shoot. I can imagine when it gets busy it may be hard to find a safe place to set up and shoot from.

Pros
  • Fun
  • Close to town
Cons
  • Small
  • Short distance
  • No defined lanes
  • Irresponsible people
  • Messy
I'm probably just reiterating what others have said, but I like hearing (seeing) myself speak.

This gets 3 stars because when the place isn't busy it's not a bad spot to shoot and you can meet some great people there. If you catch it when it's busy it verges on being dangerous. Seen numerous people set their targets up between large rocks. Also seen terrible firearm safety there. Watched a women shoot then look away and laugh as she flagged her entire group with her pistol. Today had a group of tourists show up and the guy leading them flagged be about 3 times in 30 seconds as he swung his AR around like it was a tool for pointing things out to his group.

If you catch this place midweek when there are only one or two groups up there its great for short distancing shooting. But if you see a stack of cars there I suggest turning around.

Pros
  • Fun
Cons
  • Immature shooters & irresponsible people drinking while shooting
Place is trashed for sure. We packed out as much as we could on top of our own. There was an older guy there today doing NOTHING but picking up others peoples trash. Way too many irresponaible shooters dumping at rocks and targets stuck between rocks. Had some kind of ricochet hit the back of my neck while reloading. Not sure what it was but it was hot lol. People pounding modelos while shooting And shooting over the top of each other. Very sketchy at first but was very pleasant once the rest moved on. From my experience today, later in the day is best for adult shooting.

Cons
  • Constant flow of people
Closest place to portland I know of. Sometimes there is a lot of trash, sometimes not so much. You'll be pretty close to other people (20ft at the min) depending on how people are set up. Not really long range but good for hand guns and shotguns/clays.
Also, you will need to carry any guns/ammo about 100 yards to the actuall shooting spot as there is a closed gate.

  • Some trash - clean yours up!
Went here today with the wife.
Only a couple shooters there, fair amount of debris but not terrible.
Easy to find and right off the road.
Will go back again. Enjoyed it.

This was my first time at this Pit. Was easy to find but not much parking The signs have been chopped down and a fair amount of trash The people there seemed all respectful of the area So all and all I had a very good time.

Not a bad spot, but its not very big and lots of trash. Most shooters here are respectful and friendly. every so often I see kids who just want to do mag dumps but havent had any safety issues with them yet. The area has also attracted tweakers that roam around to pick up brass for money, they are cleaning up (not trash) but I dislike someone standing behind me or roaming around the area where it may not be safe.
So while I go here often I it gets buys and you may have to wait for a spot.

Old quarry or highway construction pit. Extremely messy with littered shells, clays, brass and trash. There are a handful of directions to shoot, and no clear setup. Kind of a free-for-all. Had to walk across someone's firing line (did so safely) to get back to my vehicle.

Kind of dismayed at how much trash is everywhere. Sights like that make it easy to understand why people hate target shooters. At least it's all concentrated in one area. In good need of a cleanup day. I'd be happy to attend.
