I stopped watching the "dark X" channels a while ago. He finds super interesting content and puts good effort into editing, but his research standards are somewhere around "I read it on the internet, so it must be true!" There is no effort to validate or corroborate anything he picks up, no skepticism about sources, not even checking things for plausibility or compliance with physical reality. Or, as you note, whether or not what he is reporting in the image is actually what is in the image. I noticed more than a few massive errors in his earlier work, and that is just things I knew about or had personal experience with. I wondered how many things he was "documenting" that were flat out and provably wrong that I was simply unfamiliar with. I was not about to give myself a bunch of homework to validate a bunch of random "facts" just so I could enjoy decent editing skills. I would rather watch someone with higher standards for fact checking in the first place.
