Well, there's a lot of those out there. True gun value says less than $300 for trade in and around $450 for private party. Is it complete? Got pics? If it's in good condition and works as intended, I might have a pistol to trade you. If you want cash, list it in the classifieds for 400 bucks and it will be gone fast.

I take it that Mazama's wasn't interested in buying it? Is it in really bad shape?

With military rifles :

Markings / Stamping matter and may make a difference in pricing....

Bore condition is also important to factor in...

Sporterzied....some folks like 'em....others do not...if this Carbine is altered / sporterized then that will affect pricing.

Pictures would be helpful here.

Factors like if it's counterbored or not and if it has the original stock will factor into it. Again, nobody can tell you anything without pics. Check Gun Broker. Some are highly collectible and some may fetch only 100 bucks.

Don't be in a hurry. Keep it until you truly know what you have. But if you are in a hurry, I will meet you at my FFL in Springfield with a nice crisp 100 dollar bill…..just kidding of course.

Need pic/markings...M38 will command a little more than an M44 which is a little more than an M91/30...yada yada...
Generic WAG is $400+/-, but SOOOOOOOoooo many variables....
