I just came across an interesting article on BBC.com about Thomas Kinkade, a.k.a. "The Painter of Light®".
Back when he lived in Silverton, two of my neighbors thought he was the greatest artist. One paid a tidy sum for a print from the shop he had in Salem Center Mall. I just kind of rolled my eyes, but laughed hard when I saw Banksy's The Banality of the Banality of Evil, shown here. I recently came across one of Kinkade's reproductions at a garage sale, and to me, it wasn't worth the $15 they were asking for it, even though the frame itself must have cost a few hundred dollars.
I'd love to see these dark prints they write of in the article.
