Winchester Model 70, is a semi-restored "manufactured in August 1976," and the 22" original barrel is in "semi varmint weight." It has been an exceptional shooter for me with 55gr rounds!
I had Copeland Custom Gunworks (Velzey) recondition the original stock to a satin finish instead of the original Winchester clear coat. The wood grain is amazing! Tim Copeland did a thorough inspection, and in his written insurance estimate paper that he did for me, he wrote, "The bore and chamber are in excellent condition. The rifle overall is nearly perfect condition. No rust is present anywhere." Also, Tim wasn't sure what to think about the "extra stock checkering" from his research so he called the Cody Winchester Museum. Cody told him this rifle was, "probably a custom order from Winchester with bit fancier stock."
It came to me without the factory sights so I had him "time" the filler screws (see pics). I also had Tim lighten the trigger with new springs but it still feels like a 6lbs pull though it is a bit smoother than original. Sold to you with the pictured period correct Tasco (Australia) bases and 30mm rings, and also two & 1/3 boxes (47 rounds) of Hornady 55gr ammunition and few boxes of brass.
*Trades added (12/21/25): only interested in smaller caliber (.257 or .243 preferred) wood & steel older rifles from SAKO, Weatherby V's & Vanguards, Mannlicher-Shonauer, and Husqavarna, and maybe old model 70's and 700's.
