You should look into getting a surplus Sig P6 9mm. They are under $400 at Widener's Firearms.

The P6 is a single stack (8+1) but the size is about the same as a 229. Maybe a touch thinner.

You can easily sell the shield for $400.

Had a couple of P6's over the years and they are great guns, not usre I want another one though , Thinking 228 or 229 to go along with my P226SCT.
But I may just drop a Apex trigger into the Shield and keep it.
