If you've had experience with the SIG Romeo 5 and 7, I'm curious about your thoughts on them?

I used to use an AimPoint PRO on my AR, and the Romeo 7 seems comparable at less than half the cost.

I am a big fan of the Romeo 5 XDR with a dot and circle around it. I find the circle makes acquiring the dot MUCH faster.

I have not seen a Romeo 7 with the XDR circle available which is why I stick with the Romeo 5.

The Romeo 5 is great. I've had two of them and they have always worked. I have not tried the Romeo 7 as I don't like bulky red dots. You might also check out the Holosun 530 and the Holosun AEMS.

I think that the Romeo 5 is one of the best red dots that Sig makes. For the price its always a winner.

I'm gonna agree with this. Romeo 7 is huge and heavy. Romeo5 XDR variant can be found for around $150 if you look around. AAA battery and circle dot / dot option for reticals. Don't love the mount but it is what it is: a budget friendly rds

If you just want an easy, no-fuss red dot, Get the Romeo5.
If you don't mind extra size and want a bigger viewing window, Get the Romeo 7/7S.

Never looked at a Romeo 7, but its sooo big, idk what the point of it is compared to a romeo 4/5/7.

I have heard the romeo 7s has more noticeable glare/reflection of the red dot emitter in the outer edges of the lenses, and boy were they right. Romeo 7s seems to be properly priced compared to the other romeo optics just because of that alone. It looks awesome, not a huge fan of the dial and the lense glare is obnoxious and in low light, quite distracting. I ended up tossing mine on a dedicated .22LR upper and that's where it lives now.

Romeo 5 gen1 vs Romeo 5 gen2 vs Romeo 5 XDR Gen2 was the next budget optic showdown for me. I ultimately decided to stay away from the Gen1 romeo 5 because I dont like the turret caps, and with my luck id end up with some Chinese Knockoff and not even realize it. Comparing the 5XDR red dot to my Romeo 5 gen2 green dot, I can honestly say I like the romeo 5 gen2 better. 1) its a 2032 battery which i prefer over the AAA on the XDR. 2) The factory i-shape mount is more pleasing to the eyes than the XDR Mount. 3) the XDR cant use t2 aftermarket mounts (ex. Arisaka, bcm, scalerworks, g$, reptilia, utg etc) becajse of the bottom mounted AAA battery compartment. 4) thought circle dot would be nice to use sometimes on the XDR, no. Literally never use it. 5) I actually kind of like the green dot over the red with this particular optic. Never used green on an AR platform, and paired with a Juliet 4x Magnifier, i really liked the green for shooting outdoors in daylight bright settings.

I like the smaller red dots, ones the size of the R7 is a bit much for a 1x optic IMO.
Myself, once they start getting that big the trade off had better be some magnification.

I've been running a Romeo5 XDR predator for awhile on a few different rifles.
With an ADM QD mount it has a 1.6" centerline above the rail, using the spacer it came with and some longer hardware it brings it to 1.8"

I run the Romeo 5, some of each gen 1 and 2. Perfectly good for my needs. Not too big, simple to operate, seem to hold zero well, and priced well. All good enough that I think I have like 6 or 7 of them mounted.
