What are your recommendations for training courses in/near the Portland-Salem area?
It seems like most ranges with classes require you to take their beginner/safety course before you can take others. Thanks to our lovely economic state I'd rather not spend money I don't have to (and spend it on ammo, of course). I'm looking for a class to focus on improving marksmanship in a self defense context.
I consider my self an entry/mid level shooter but not a novice. Basic safety/operation/fundamentals are solid. I'm confident I don't need a class that covers the basics (CHL class covered that stuff as well anyway).
Thanks!

No idea but in the interim, practicing your draw stroke combined with dry-firing your carry rig will get you down the road a ways.. probably more than most.

I assuming you're looking for handgun training…
Check out the Public Safety Training Center in Clackamas Oregon. Gabe White is a instructor there. Classes with prerequisites can be challenged and skipped over if passed. Also, Matt Little of Greybeard Actual will be there end of June 2025.

That said, there's only so much one can do at an indoor range, I'd suggest biting the bullet and make the trip to Goldendale for a Cerberus Training Group class, @Cerberus Group will take you to whole new level.

Yes, handgun.
I've looked at PSTC before, must have missed being able to test out of pre-reqs. I'll definite check them out again and Cerberus as well.

You could look at Firearms Academy of Seattle. They're up in Onalaska, so about 1.5hrs north. There been around forever, although with new owners the past couple years.
