Manufactured from 1892 to 1899 before the company and all the patents were purchased by the Winchester Firearms Company. This serial number 2207 Would place this guns production at about 1894. The shotgun is a six round tube 12 gauge with a single bead pearl sight, rarely encountered full length solid rib 28" Damascus, two-line patent markings on the bottom of the receiver, "BURGESS GUN CO./BUFFALO, N.Y. U.S.A." on top of the bolt, and a checkered wood and blue steel sliding grip, with a checkered forearm and hard rubber Burgess Gun Co. dog's head buttplate. The condition is very good with almost all its original blue on the receiver with small parts turned brown. The Damascus barrel displays a very distinct pattern. Mechanically Excellent, tight, and strong. The takedown feature works correctly and is very tight. Magazine accepts rounds perfectly and the action chambers rounds nicely. The wood is tight and good with a few dings. Bore looks good and shiny. Overall, few of these shotguns were ever produced and are rarely ever found with any original finish. This very gun was featured in an article in "Shooting Sportsman" November/December 2013 by Steven Dodd Hughes. This would be a great addition to any collection. You won't be disappointed when you see this gun. This is a 128 year old antique so there is no FFL transfer or sales tax required and will ship directly to you. Asking $2800. No trades. Please PM me if interested.
