Well hopefully they're half "engineered" or something.. in the old days, and perhaps today, many jacketed slugs essentially performed as a solid. and a round nose ish solid sucks.
Semi wadcutters are still available.
 
So I got a chance to shoot the 240gr JSP from my ruger 44 carbine

23.5 gr of H110
CCI large pistol primer
Remington brass
fps averaged 1718 and all were within a few FPS of that

Groups were about 2.5" I didn't expect 1 hole groups but I think I could do better if I eased back to 23.0 gr of H110@1680-1690fps

These were recovered from a sand/gravel bank at 100yds





I'll weigh them and get a real measurement and post up the results later.
