Well, the last time I suggested that I send money, and the seller drop off the item at a FFL I was more or less accused of fraud, and the seller said something to the effect of if I didn't pick it up they'd have to take a day off, and do a background check to get it back despite my pointing out that if they already had my money it wouldn't be theirs to pick back up. Nobody wants to trust me despite the fact that I'm the one making the leap of faith by sending money to a stranger other than in a few non FFL items. Sure, I'd do that if sellers would oblige, but they don't.

I've got an FFL who will do "after hours" call-ins from his house in Lebanon. He's usually a night-owl. Great guy. He doesn't have a storefront. It's quite a drive from Brookings though; I don't know if you'd want to drive that far. Send me a PM if interested.
The area I'm having trouble with at the moment is the south end of Portland metro area. It's apparent since I'm willing to travel 7-1/2 hrs each way, and spend the night that the sale is more important to me than to the seller at who's absolute convenience it must be. I think some of these listings are more testing the waters than would actually like to sell the item. I know I've personally bent over backwards to try to make deals happen when people buy things from me, but I seem to be the odd duck these days.

Some FFL's will hold firearm for the incoming transfer ahead of time. You just need to chat with that FFL to see how they handle things. One of the transfer guys I use on my side of the river does that for me no problem. I will coin the deal up front and drop the firearm off at the FFL for the buyer to go in at their leisure.
