Hey everyone! Shooting enthusiast in the Alger/Mount Vernon area. Looking for cool deals and like minded individuals. It would be awesome to find some peeps to train with. I go to the skagit shooting range a few times a month. Shoot up on alger mountain when its open. Terrorize mosquito lake road the rest of the year. Glad to be here!

Welcome to NWFA.
Lots of sections to read and learn from.

Familiar with those places you mention.... :D

If you ever get an interest in muzzle loading...I'd be happy to add to your confusion....:D

How's that Brown bess kick?
Recoil ain't bad...even with a 80 odd grain charge.
That said....the comb of the stock doesn't really fit me so...recoil is noticeable.
I usually shoot this with a 60 -65 Gran charge instead of the "regular " Bess loading of 80 - 90 odd grains.
Doing so...makes the recoil more forgiving.

Please note that the stock of that gun has been heavily modified by the original owner...so ain't in the original stock profile.

My cousin is really into flint lock rifles and pistols. There is a range near Monroe that has a group that practice once a month. Not sure which weekend, but I have been a few times and it is an interesting process loading and firing. People usually bring some snacks, last time someone brought some venison stew from a critter the harvested on their property.

Several of the gentlemen build these rifles and they are beautiful pieces of work.
