Gun kits are available to purchase online, and many are already 80 percent assembled when they are shipped out, with the remaining pieces needed to complete the firearm assembly in the same box.

Yep. The only reason it's 80% is because that's as close to the line as it can currently go. Change the law, they'll become 60% kits. Etc. etc.

Unless the gov wants to start serializing billets, and damn if that wouldn't just be the biggest waste of time...

Absolutely true. There's a youtube video out there of a guy who made a lower starting with aluminum cans.

But what really burned me up, was the deceptive language in the article. According to ABC, these kits are 80% assembled with the rest of the parts in the box. It says nothing at all about machining -- it makes it sound like some product you have to screw a few parts on -- like adding the base to a TV or something something like that.

That's because, to these folks, assembly is as much a mystery as machining.

I call them the IKEA crowd. Can barely put together that, no hope of changing a tire or oil in their car, let alone actually build something.

When it's all foreign and impossible, it all looks the same.

Just prepare now. Ghost guns were nice when they lasted. Start saving for a nice mill or buy enough now to forever hokd your peace. Lol
