Hi Folks:

I have a very nice low round (under 100) Dan Wesson with a 3" and 6" barrel. This gun has been in the family for 30+ years and has not been shot for well over 20. I know the 6" barrel has been installed before but not sure if a round was ever shot through it. The bluing is near perfect and cylinder ring in very light. There is one nick on the back of the grip and that is about it. I would rate this gun 1-10 a 9.

Price $650

Trade for:

Sig P238+
Sig P938+
S&W model 60 .357 mag+$ depending on the gun 3" is preferred
Glock 43+$
CZ REMI+$ (metal frame only)
Sig P230+$
Bersa Thunder .380 nickel+$
Kahr CW380+$
Ruger SP101 snubby +$
Ruger LC9S or S Pro+$

Thank You:

James

James, just to be clear, this is the Model 15-2, in .357 magnum, correct? Nice looking gun, and nice to have 2 barrels/shrouds.

Are you sure it is a 3" barrel? In the pics it looks like a 4" and a 6".....

Nice piece.

I am sure those are 4" and 6" barrels. The only other possibility is the 2.5" barrels (DW didn't make a 3" barrel). Remember, this is the length of the actual barrel, not the outer shroud. It is easy enough to measure the barrel, if you have the nut tool. Simply remove the nut, then the shroud, then remove the barrel.

James, you don't happen the have the DW 15-2 in .44magnum, do you???

Revolver porn: Here is a picture of the same sidearm, with the 6" barrel mounted. (Mine is the standard shroud, not the heavy lugged version. I also replaced the front sights with fiber optics.)

James, your DW was made in Monson, and are generally considered the best of the bunch. Also, yours is an earlier version than mine, which is also good. IMG_1578.jpg These are straight shooters, and very nice guns. The new owner will be very pleased with this. GLWS.

Hi Folks:

Thanks for all you comments and educating me on this gun. The barrels probably are 4" & 6". I don't really know where to start the measurement.

A couple other guns I may be interested in +$ would be a Ruger LC9 S or S pro & Glock 43.

Sorry but this is the only Dan Wesson I have or have ever had.

Thank You:

James

The easiest way to ID the barrel length on a DW is to count the number of slots in the vent rib. The barrel length is 2" per slot. DW counted barrel length from the cylinder gap to the end of the barrel, so the shroud will always be shorter.

The barrels/shrouds are a 6VH (6" Vented Heavy), and a 4V (4" Vent). Having the box for the 6" barrel is a plus to collectors.

An early Model 15-2 from Monson is damn fine revolver. GLWS.
