These make great knives, survival knife, spears, brush clearing, even digging tools. Can be used without handle but you get more leverage when adding a handle.
Seems to me that the perfect balance point is with front of hand on end of metal handle portion and back hand on an attached handle. So the attached handle could be only 4" let's say to give you perfect balance. I've seen some with a short handle like that and paracord or other around both metal handle and short wood handle. Lots of options. I made longer handle just to reach out for blackberry brambles. The spear type handle below was just to see if it worked as a spear (it does). Some poeple use them for throwing also (with no attached handle) but I haven't tried that. Carbon steel like the cold steel Srk knives.
