Never shot the Marlin but I just did a detail strip and cleaning on one. Seems like a pretty nice gun. It made me want one when I gave it a close once over. One possible problem to keep in mind with the Marlin guns is the microgroove barrels. Since a fair amount of .22lr is lead round nose, you will either have to frequently clean your barrel or just not shoot lrn ammo. Other than that I hear that they are fantastic guns.
