The last time I was at the Caples Bimart in Vancouver before they closed, they said they weren't selling Mini's when I asked. I had noticed someone had special ordered a Ruger PCC, so I asked. They sited the Barrel Shroud nonsense.

I have the Samson rail on my Mini 14 and I would argue it's not a barrel shroud as it really heats up quick. I usually shoot with gloves because of the heat.

I like my Mini 30. The 7.62x39 is a good cartridge. Also the magazines are interchangeable with the Ruger American in 7.62x39. If you had bought magazines before 2022, you can get 20 rounders for both rifles.

Of course there are a few sellers I know of in Washington still selling the Mini with the hand guard...
I just checked my favorite distributor and they will sell us some of the Ruger PCC models. The one that does not have a cover on the barrel and no threaded barrel. Give WA law makers a while and they will ban these too no doubt.

Its still there. Its now not as "beefy" as the used to be on the models that had wood furniture but there is a guard there. If you ever get a chance to see a Mini you will see why. No one would want to shoot one with it taken off.
Aha- thank you very much for the clarification. I guess that definitely ends the prospect of Washington residents making use of that. Oh well, I'm happy with the menagerie I have already...

I was at the Vancouver Orchards Bi-Mart today. I overheard that someone had special ordered a Mini-30 off their website and they were in the process of telling the customer that they could not sell it to them legally.

Long story short, they use the Sportsman's Warehouse website to determine Washington State legality for firearms :).

I figured that when I checked with the one south of me their site just had not caught up with how it works in WA as they were going to let me order one if I wished. Suspected that somewhere along the line the sale would have been stopped if I actually ordered one. I do feel FAR safer though now :D
