Desert find in very good condition. 1959 Chevrolet 36 Apache Service body with the scarce NAPCO PowerPak installed perhaps at the factory. The front axle housing has NAPCO 31 - 18 8 cast on the left side. The shocks will need to be replaced to be a driver. Master cylinder was replaced and as long as we own the truck, we will continue to chip away at the items we find that need attention. Extraordinary prices have been realized at auction for these original Chevy trucks with some in the 6 figures!

The original color was Frontier Beige and has since been changed to what looks like Orbit Blue which was a GMC truck color for the same year. Interior paint remains original. Body, cab, fenders floors and service body are in amazing condition with very little corrosion and the only real disclosure item is the crease in the front bumper. Front emblem and both side emblems along with the NAPCO badges are present. We have a newly powder coated bumper if the damage bothers you. We elected to keep it as close to original condition as possible. Interior is in spectacular condition with the only apology being for the rubber floor mat. I have ordered a reproduction mat that will be included. The gauge cluster was replaced by an Auto Meter electronic by a previous owner, however, an original equipment gauge is available for an additional cost. Odometer was stated to have had 36,000 original miles but there is no way of knowing the actual mileage.

Vin Decode indicates a factory installed Taskmaster 283ci V-8, built in Flint Michigan and a cab and chassis 4x4 model number of 3653. Muncie SM420 transmission, Spicer 23 divorced transfer case and low gearing that struggles to exceed 55 miles per hour. Presumably the NAPCO PowerPak was factory installed along with the service bed, however it was not uncommon for the work bodies to be installed at the dealership. General Motors did not offer a factory-built four-wheel-drive pickup truck until 1960, so a small vendor called NAPCO, or Northwestern Auto Parts Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota, stepped up to meet the demand. Overall production of PowerPak units from 1947 through 1959 was a mere 2000 units for all manufacturers applications. 1959 had less than 200 units installed on Chevrolet trucks and very few on the 3/4 ton models. NAPCO is now DANA Corporation which was started by Clarence Spicer in 1904.

This truck seems to have had a very easy life... the title and registration, up until 2022 was a Redondo Beach California address and we were told that it sold at a California estate auction in 2022. The previous cancelled title will be included in the sale.

Wheels and tires are virtually new with less than 10 miles on them, sticker remnants and adhesive are still visible. Nexen Roadian MTX 33X12.5/50R17 on 8-hole alloy wheels fit well. Glass seems to be original and while some of the rubber is dried out there don't seem to be any leaks. Seat upholstery is in fine condition and there is a new gas tank installed behind the seat.

More pictures, details and information available. We will entertain partial or full price firearm trade offers.
Please call if you are genuinely interested.
