Hello,
A company came out with a kit to turn a bufferless BRN 180 upper into a SA 80 / enfield L85. Who thinks it's worth $1800 total? What about one in 762x39 instead of 556? It is pretty cool, and you can't buy these on the open market

So it's a BRN 180 cosplaying as a SA 80? That looks like a complete lower, so I assume this is an actual firearm you need to transfer correct?

$1800 will buy you a pretty nice complete rifle. $1800 for a lower (with a standard A2 grip?), a handguard, a cheek rest, and some miscellaneous small parts is... not marketable, in my opinion. I cannot think of another kit similar to this that costs nearly that much.

There's an AR-15 bullpup kit for $700. This was one of the more expensive options I found. Not exactly apples to apples, but $1100 difference in price is hard to justify for a dressed up AR-180 that looks reminiscent of an SA80.

I did not go looking, but I took that "$1800 total" to mean the complete rifle, including the BRN 180 upper. Those are ~$900 each MSRP, so that makes this lower ~$900 too. I'm not sure how much that actually changes your point, but we should at least all be operating from the same assumptions (or, you know, go look up what the actual facts are, but who has time for that?)

#lucusloc is right, it is 1800 for both the upper and lower.

It is a brn 180 and proprietary lower and parts to make it look like a L85. Who would be willing to pay $1800 for such a package?

$1800 is not bad for an actual bullpup. It is not so great for a conversion, even a completed one. But this seems to fall in between those two options, as the lower is a bespoke bullpup that takes a standard upper for another platform.

It's actually pretty clever, but I am not sure if people will accept paying the full bullpup premium when you compare it to getting an actual from-the-ground-up bullpup. I guess it will depend on how much this feels like a compromise when compared to alternatives.

Watching Ian's breakdown and reviews of the SA80, over the years, makes the actual rifle not attractive at all. My guess is a proven AR-180 design would work better than the original. But then you need to ask yourself; Are you some sort of tea timing, crossed tooth, Redcoat? Or are you an American?
I would rather have an M1 Garand, and a M16-A1 clone, for the same investment.

Or a good AR and an ACOG.
