Had him help rebarrel a rifle and he was super quick and great priced and knew his stuff very well and was able to answer all my dum questions and very clean and organized shop
Alex was amazing to work with throughout my project. I brought in an HK-pattern rifle for extensive work and it came out looking amazing - highly recommended.
Eminently capable machinist work and thorough attention to detail
Cons
A little bit of a drive to get to, but an awfully nice drive at that
Brought in my Tikka to change barrels and also look at threading a different barrel. Alex knows his craft. His shop is well equipped and you can trust his work. Highly recommend Vernoia Machine Works for your gun-smithing needs.
On the recommendation of a friend, I took my rifle out to see if Alex could fix an issue with an oversized, rough chamber. After checking it out we decided to rebarrel the gun. Alex sourced a good barrel, cut and chambered it to what I wanted and had it coated. He was true to his word on when he would start on the project and once he got going, it didn't take long to have the rifle back into my hands. I am very pleased with his work.
He listens to what the customer wants, Communication is excellent. Really Cares!
I brought him a new Shilen barrel that needed to be chambered in .416 Rigby and installed/head spaced. Alex was very patient and listened to what I wanted. I had a great experience with both jobs he did for me. He also did the absolutely impossible, I had an 1885 Colt that had the front sight slashed off, probably in combat over a hundred years ago!! Alex cut a dovetail with the utmost precision. I still can't believe he pulled it off!! Nice work Alex and Thanks! Look forward to dropping some more projects off to you!!
Alex installed an RPK front sight & bipod, as well as threading the barrel (14x1lh) on my Saiga 308 (21.8")
Alex is willing and able to work on the AK platform, tolerated my questions, and overall was a pleasure to work with.
Had two action/barrel projects for oddball cartridges needing assembly. Work was done flawlessly and VERY quickly.. I can only hope Alex doesn't get so busy that his turnaround times become excessive. I've got work to be done!! LOL!! Many thanks, Alex!
Great work, easy communication, very fast turnaround
Got a barrel cut and threaded from Alex, turnaround was less than a week and it looks great. Just took it out shooting and no issues whatsoever, suppressor lines up perfectly. Highly recommend.
I recommend getting your services done here! They helped me decide my best options for my project, which wasn't the easiest. We had a bit of a challenge, but Alex was honest and held up his word with great work. I also greatly appreciated the quick service , and timely manner to get the project completed.
Found Alex on NWFA and thought I would give it a shot. I didn't miss. This young man knows his stuff and explains his work quite well. Prices are fair and he got the job done fast. I mean really fast. My only gripe is how far I had to drive, but it was worth it. If you have a lever action rifle you want threaded, he's your guy.
Literally the only con is that he's in BFE, but that's also a bit of a plus as I would rather drive 45 minutes into the country than into Portland.
Kudos to AME/VMW. He was able to thread a barrel that 9 other local gunsmiths said they couldn't do. Not only did he get it done, but he got it done in 1/4 of the time frame he quoted me!
