Pros
  • Activities Offered and Learning Objectives
  • Adherence to Rules and Regulations
Cons
  • All of the ranges should be available to the members not just special or event use.
Great cause and very much needed in this city. All about equality when it comes to people in this country, so the same should be looked upon regarding hobbies. We all need good sportsmanship. People can cry about gun violence and shooting rampages across the country, but on the grand scale that has nothing to do with changing the constitution of America. A law on banning everything or everybody related to guns is pointless and will not solve anything. Look around the world and what is happening. There should be more focus and enforcement on international travel & trade. Cell phones while driving are more dangerous and cause many more deaths. Next time your driving really look around you and see if everyone is being safe or are there many truly putting us at risk? I have witnessed this kind of behavior with kids crossing sidewalks. Whether you have liberal or conservative views do not be a bigot toward those people or things that you do not agree with (don't be a hypocrite). Many more important things to consider on a global level. Pollution. You know recycling sounds good on a residential level and might make you think your making real change in the environment, but in reality commercial & government businesses are what needs enforcement for this world to stay afloat. Hmmm Hanford? Plastic dump in Pacific ocean? Just walked Juanita beach and was simply amazed by how much garbage was littered on shore (its gone now I cleaned it up with my kids). For being such a "cutting edge" city you would think that the parents would be teaching the kids more. Interlake Sporting Association is a non-profit organization that operates a nature preserve. What have you done lately to really make a change? Pick up a piece of trash when walking. It won't kill you, it might even make you feel good about yourself. Okay okay it was Saturday and I got lost in my thoughts. ISA and other shooting ranges serve a purpose for recreation, hunting and home protection skills. Safety
Cheap, no frills range with some hoops to jump

Pros
  • $240 a year
  • Located within Redmond city limits
  • Every member is an RSO and treated like an adult, trouble makers quickly removed from membership
  • Board is very active in community and taking steps to add more archery pits
  • Reactive steel pistol range!
Cons
  • Requires a sponsorship, but this is easily achieved by showing up to a work party
  • Like all ranges within city limits, rapid fire is not allowed
  • Static ranges only. Action bays require board training and approval, still can't shoot rifle. Rifles can only be shot suppressed at one pistol range
  • VERY close to new housing developments in Redmond. Neighbors mostly been nice since the houses went up in 2020, but I'm not confident in the range's longevity
I think Interlake is one of the best options for Seattle area shooters. At $240 a year, price-wise it's only beat by Issaquah Sportsmen's Club which is $120 annual. What does double the price get you?

+ No RSOs other than you and your fellow shooters. Everyone I've met has been very polite and fun to shoot with.
+ A steel range for pistols, PCCs, rimfire and birdshot.
+ An active and communicative board of directors.
+ Probably the biggest reason for most people on the Eastside, a range that isn't an hour+ away from home.

On the flip side, it is a bit of a pain to become a member. You need to be sponsored by a current member and attend at least one working party. This is easily achieved however, by either shooting an Appleseed event or competing in a pistol league event, all of which are available on the ISA website calendar, and then attending a work party on the 4th Saturday of the month.

To address the elephant in the room, ISA is located within city limits of Redmond. Housing developments popping up around ISA have always been a concern, there's even an article from 1994 clipped to the clubhouse posting notice board about how a developer tried to sue the range into oblivion. If you look at their reviews on Google, they are 1 star bombed because the developer didn't disclose the proximity of the range to new buyers back in 2020 when the range was shut down for 6 months due to COVID. There aren't a lot of occupied homes out there, but that could change at any time and put the range in jeopardy. Luckily, the board is very proactive at making friends with our neighbors and with the people at city hall.

Just a stray thought, I'd also suggest getting a suppressor for your rifle as soon as you can if you do decide to be a member. Without a can, you can only shoot your rifles from 25, 100 and 200 yards. A canned rifle lets you shoot at North Pistol from 0-12.
