Pros
  • Close to home
Cons
  • Rude, indifferent, costly
I wanted somewhere close to home instead of running out to Wolf Creek every time. I paid the annual membership fee and it seems like every time I've been there to shoot it costs me another $40 to $60 or myself and one of my family, and this is with our own ammo. The older lady is completely indifferent to whether people are there or not, but the old guy is generally pretty good from what I've seen. It's like they're in a marriage and hate each other, and take it out on the customers. I can't imagine buying anything from them and I won't be renewing my membership

I've stopped in here a few times over the years and I've been dissatisfied every single time. When I was a new shooter I felt unwelcomed. Now that it's been a few years I realize this place is fudd central. I do not know one person whose had a good experience here.

I did a transfer from Silencer Shop to Beavercreek Armory. Worst mistake of my life. I called ATF and found out I was approved and stamp was sent to Beavercreek. I called them to see if they got stamp yet. RUDE lady told me "We will call you when we get it". I waited a week. Called again. Same answer. Waited a week. Called again. Same answer. Waited another month. Called again. Same answer. Went up there and finally lady says "Oh we've had it....I just lost the paperwork". I look in the office.....papers stacked everywhere like its a hoarders house.

DONT GO HERE

This kind of thing makes me wonder if the ATF need to do a records check.

Pros
  • For me, location
Cons
  • Customer Service
  • Range is old, no ventilation
Note: I have not purchased anything from them, this is a review of the facility and range.

I had a membership to a range back in Arizona, called Ted's Shooting Range, and absolutely loved it. It wasn't the fanciest of places, but it was clean and organized, the staff were fun to talk to, and you could really tell that Liz loved her business, teaching shooting, and operating a range.

Now I'm here in Oregon and the Armory happens to be the closest place to me. Upon entry, you will immediately feel as if you've travelled back in time. To some of you old timers, you may feel right at home. But to this young gun, it feels lazy - as if the owners couldn't be bothered to keep up.

I've met one staff member and the owners. The staff member was jovial and a pleasure to work with. The owners give off a strange impression. It feels like, at some point in the long ago past, they liked to shoot and saw an opportunity to fuel their passion by running a range. But, they didn't open the business to be of service, instead operated it to fuel their own passions. Today, the passion for shooting is gone, leaving them with a business they don't really enjoy operating. It's a type of sad indifference to the fact that you, a paying customer, are even there.

The range does not have any ventilation (or severely underpowered ventilation), so I hope you enjoy creating your very own fog of war to shoot through. The target carriers are not too dissimilar from a hanger bent into shape with some alligator clips. There is nothing in place to keep them balanced and perpendicular to the shooter. There is no digital display on target distance, only marks on the floor, and no markings to tell you how far those marks are from you. I hope your perception of distance is up to par. The acoustics in the range are loud! I never felt the need to double up on inner and outer hearing protection until coming here.

But, on the plus side, the membership pricing is cheap and it buys you cheap range fees and a $5 charge for using your own ammo - *any* amount of ammo. They also charge for the day before you shoot, which I actually prefer. This way, I can get the transaction taken care of, go shoot, and simply be on my way.

This place is a means to an end for me while I wait for TCGC membership. After that, I'll stomach that drive to use a better facility. But, if you're in Hillsboro/Beaverton and like to shoot for your lunch break / after work, this really is the only option. Lots of cons to coming here...but the cheap price does make up for some of it.

What a horrible experience. This week I tried to do a personal transfer thru Beaver Creek Armory because they were very close to the freeway, and I had never used them before. What a mistake. It took over an hour to transfer one gun, they were the rudest people I've deal with in years; And it was $45 a transfer to boot. I paid extra to be treated so poorly. One thing is for sure, I'll never go back into that store.

It all started out ok as the owner Ann was doing the transfer, just super slow. She knows nothing about guns, and can't even see to read off the serial numbers. It took about 50 minutes to complete the transfer. She walked back and forth to her back office a few times and finally came out. She gave me the gun I was buying and a reciept and then just went back into her office. I slowly packaged up the gun and continued to chat with the seller in the middle of the store for 4-5 more minuts while holding the gun. Then we moved outside to the parking lot, for 4-5 more minutes still chatting and getting ready to leave. Then the second owner Dave came out screaming he's calling the sheriff. I had to ask 3 times what is going on, he finally yells out he's calling the cops because I never got a background check. It turns out they didn't do the background check yet but didn't bother to tell us (the buyer or seller). Dave was such an A$%^&*# about it. Once he finally explained it, I went back in as I needed my ID back from them still also. Dave in particular continued to be extreemly rude claiming this my fault, and continued acting like a real A#$%^&* while they started the background check they still had not done. When it was finally done the second time Owner Ann tried to give me the paper work to take with me until she realized her mistake that she keeps the papers. It took well over an hour for a single transaction, and only 5 minutes for the digital transfer. This place is so slow, uneducated, and unorganized. Dave and I did agree on one thing before I left...... I'll never be back in his store for anything ever. I've heard the stories of others getting screwed by these people, and I'm sorry I didn't listen and avoid them. Next time I'll drive anywhere else then BEAVER CREEK ARMORY. BEWARE......

Pros
  • Convenient Location.
Cons
  • This place is not honoring their Groupon/Livingsocial purchases for first-time shooters. They refuse to return the voucher money. Attribute to low 22lr but will not allow other calibers (9mm, 17HMR) unless customer pays ~$1 / round more.
This place already has a mixed review among the firearm community. Apparently they now seek business from newcomers through groupon and livingsocial. Their tactics do not expand or strengthen our community.

Stay clear of this place. I was trying to do an NFA transaction and it was the worst experience. I ended up having to pay them to transfer it to another place to do the actual transfer. It took them 4 months just to get it transferred. What at night mare it turned out to be not to say the least it cost me more as I needed to pay fees that I should not had to do other wise. They have not a clue on customer service. They must think rudeness equals great customer service. So if you want bad customer service that is the place to go.

I want to reiterate that Beavercreek Armory took $80 from me to mount and sight in a scope, which was simply not mounted at all and fell off the day I picked it up. This followed my being yelled at for bringing my own Ammo to the range after I told them I had. Rude ripoff you all should avoid. I'm never going back.
