Totally agree. .22 can be used on such a wide variety of weapons and reduces sound to silly quiet levels. 5.56 to get subsonic you will be shooting rounds at basically 22LR power (I recognize there are benefits when shooting SuperSonics such as reducing flash signature).Im a firm believer that everyone that buys a silencer should be compelled to purchase a 22 silencer first ( and not because I build them ) because then they'll have some satisfaction from their purchase. Theyre cheap enough, theyre cheap to shoot, and theyre quieter by far than anything else . Nope people start out with a 5.56 silencer and then get really let down and feel burned on the whole process. Even 9mm isn't quiet and is a bit unwieldy. 300BO is quiet in subs but its not cheap to shoot.
Great advise. I'll add that it's wonderful having a can that can accommodate multiple calibers... my R9 is currently used on an SP5, .308 bolt action, VZ61 in .32, and various 9mm handguns (even on a MKIV although a .22 can would be better). A can on a bolt gun is particularly nice to have; they tend to preserve ammo and the lack of a gas system makes them incredibly quiet.Im a firm believer that everyone that buys a silencer should be compelled to purchase a 22 silencer first ( and not because I build them ) because then they'll have some satisfaction from their purchase. So what can that Rad 9 be used on then? not just 9mm?Great advise. Rad 9 calibers:So what can that Rad 9 be used on then? not just 9mm?
It's the YHM R9. It's rated up to .308 with 16" minimum barrel. Can also handle 5.56 with 16" barrel. It can handle pretty much any semiauto pistol caliber with a diameter equal to or less than 9mm with a corresponding Nielsen Device. So what can that Rad 9 be used on then? not just 9mm?
I like that! And I agree that everyone should have an Ought Six, at least one anyway.Everybody needs at least one 30-06. How about a factory converted military rifle. Remington's 1st commercial high powered bolt action rifle manufactured from P14/M1917 surplus parts. Remington Model 30 Express 30-06.
Here's a Model 30S Express 24" barrel manufactured in 1936. Unfortunately, this one came with a scope base. I plan to ditch the scope and obtain a factory Lyman rear sight. These are good shooters and a piece of history. Don't see these everyday and a good example is within your budgetary limit.
They don't make them like this anymore. It's a beast, weight wise.

I have one of those. Dad got it thru the CMP in the early 60's. I have his certificates and paperwork that came with the gun. Unfortunately he and Mom threw the box away in the 90's..30-06 Remington 03A3

It'll work until it blows upSo i'm assuming you can't really use the rad 45 or rad 9 on an AR15? (i'm only asking as it's (calibre-wise) a .22)
I do have a few 30.06, 1903 A3, Garand, Win M70, huh, um, i guess i sold other modern 30/06's, i am fairly confident i don't have any more these days, Wife used to have a Tikka, but sold that as she didn't use it
I wonder if i should consider some kind of modern 30.06?
