The earth is said be in the process of switching magnetic poles too. It could happen within the next century or two, or less. And when it does, a lot of electronic equipment may not work properly, especially airplane navigation equipment, satellites and/or communication equipment.
I saw a documentary about it on public television.
The cycle on earth takes many thousands of years, and many scientists believe that we're very close to the end of the cycle.
When it happens the world may experience some electrical disturbances.

Ahhh, Yes . . . Public Broadcasting!! . . . That means the polarity shift is about to become the next cause of the liberals.
It is, no doubt, something George Bush caused or a result of MAN-made global warming or perhaps because the 2nd
amendment still exists. In any case, you can bet the University of North Umbria is studying the situation . . .

Yes, it should be interesting. The poles are moving now.

That's true. It involves the earth's core. But it's unknown how many years the cycle can take to complete because each cycle is different.

There's a Wikipedia article with some history & info. about the earth's geomagnetic reversal which scientists claim has occurred many times:

Does this explain why those global warming people got stuck in the Antarctic ice a few days ago???

Since a gps relies on geostationary sats, I wonder if it will make them malfunction. Sure will turn the maps upside down. Other than a software update they should still function ???
The logistics in map and compass related fixes will make millions of new jobs..... look on the bright side
Shouldn't cause any upset in DC since they think upside down and backwards anyway.
