David Small, a lawyer and professor at Canterbury University in Christchurch, says it's a question of what's reasonable in a country where guns are important for hunting and pest control. "There is nothing reasonable about owning a gun whose main purpose is self-defense," he says.
So after the death toll at the second mosque was reduced because a victim fired back with a self defense weapon, this lawyer thinks it would have been preferable if the victim had been unarmed against the murderer.

Andy;
Don't be Sorry. As usual you were Stop on with what you said!!!
In regards to the idea of self defense...
I would say that if it were not for self defense , none of us would be here , alive today.
We use self defense every day :
Wearing a seatbelt...
Looking both ways before crossing the street...
Not using the toaster , while showering...
Is no different than :
Being situational aware...
Locking the house doors...
Being prepared to use a firearm...
Any of the above examples are "self defense" as in they are actions that keep one safe and alive.
Sorry for the thread drift...

Could this be a lone wolf revenge attack for NZ massacre?
